If you know me, you know I have a passion for telling stories. As a young man, this manifested itself in short Super 8 films, hand drawn cartoons and, after film school, a series of short films. In more recent years, I’ve had the opportunity to produce and develop a wide range of interesting projects, from feature to broadcast, game to animation. Now, as I continue to develop my own properties, I wanted to share with visitors my insights and resources for content creation. I hope you find the information I offer interesting, entertaining and, in some way, helpful.
Growing up in a small town in Oregon, John says his creative style was inspired by the nature around him, as well as mom. He remembers Saturdays, when he was heading out to play as a child, she would grab his hand and ask him to come watch a classic movie with her. It was early exposure to movies like Singin’ In the Rain, Casablanca and the like that showed him the magic of film.
Early on John found a creative outlet in writing, using words as a way to share his ideas for fantastic worlds and great characters. Even before he even understood the process, he was making short films in Super 8, experimenting with stop motion animation and model photography. In high school, John took over lighting for all stage plays, developing a fledgling understanding of light and composition.
